Intensive drive against tuition centres violating norms

JAMMU, Mar 25 : Intensive drive has been initiated in District Jammu for ensuring the implementation of regulation of Tuition Centres Rules 2010 in In furtherance to the directions of Hon'ble High Court in public interest litigation namely Mohd Ashan Untoo V/s State of J&K and others.
Number of inspection committees has been formed for visiting each and every coaching centre and to ensure all logistic infrastructure requirement as envisaged under these rules which ought to be available in these centres. Owners/Management of these tuition centres have also been directed to submit their undertakings before the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu giving details of the arrangements made in these centres.
During last four day's drive more than 54 tuition centres hasve been closed whereas inspection of nearly 100 coaching centres has been conducted. About 8 coaching centres in Tehsil Bishnah, 5 in Tehsil Jammu South, 25 in Tehsil Bahu , 17 in Tehsil Jammu have been found violating the norms and accordingly closure orders have been issued by the concerned Sub Divisional Magistrates. As per the tuition centre regulation 2010 every tuition centre has to have adequate arrangements of water, electricity, toilets, etc and has to be established in noise free area. They have also to install CCTV cameras and ought to have a average space of 9 Sq ft per student, separate provision of toilets/waiting area for girls .Apart from that all tuition centres have to provide free education upto 10 percent of intake capacity to the students from weaker sections, BPL , have to display the details of tutors/faculty with their qualifications and experience as also the free structure to be charged.
The teams constituted by the District Magistrate are constantly visiting these tuition centres and there may be more closures in days to come. Field officers have been given strict directions not to show any laxity in implementation of the direction of High Court and to take strict action on the Tuition centres who are found not following the norms prescribed under rules.
