Security grid beefed up ahead of I-Day, Budha Amarnath Yatra

Rajouri, Aug 3: Security forces in frontier districts of Rajouri and Poonch have been put on highest alert ahead of Independence Day and annual Shri Budha Amar Nath Yatra in Mandi of Poonch which is set to start in second week of August recent bids of infiltration and ceasefire violations from across the border
Following some inputs about the presence of some unidentified persons in Rajouri district the Special Operation Group (SOG) of Rajouri Police in collaboration with different army units have launched search and destroy operations in Kalakot , Darhal, Thanamndi and Manjakot tehsils though the operations were termed as 'routine exercise' as they turned futile.
"The search operations were also in progress in the higher reaches on the meeting points with Poonch district in Darhal, Sanjyot and Thanamndi areas of Rajouri district when the last reports came in," sources said.
"After some reports of presence of some unidentified persons in the higher reaches, as informed by the nomads, search and destroy operations have jointly been launched by the army and SOG team" said a senior police officer on anonymity.
Lt Gen DS Hooda, Northern Army Command Chief at the sidelines of Kargil Vijay Divas also had expressed apprehensions of infiltration attempts from Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu province as 150 militants are sitting across the LoC at launch pads and are waiting to be pushed into Indian soil for subversive activities by their mentors.
If recalled here AK Attri, DIG police Rajouri-Poonch Police Range too had instructed all the senior police officers in both the districts to keep special surveillance on the activities of suspicious elements, surrendered militants, over ground workers and anti-social and anti-national elements.
DIG Rajouri Poonch also had instructed to establish special police nakas on Jammu-Poonch highway and on the Mughal Road to foil any attempts by the anti-national forces to disturb the Independence Day celebrations or annual Shri Budha Amar Nath Yatra.
According to unconfirmed reports two groups of trained terrorists had entered the Indian side from Sabjian sector in Poonch district and one group had headed towards Kashmir Valley while another group members are hiding somewhere in the forests on the boundaries of twin border districts i.e. Rajouri and Poonch.
Meanwhile talking to reporters here today, Dr Haseeb Mughal, SSP Rajouri briefly said that security forces including police in both the districts will not take any chance on such inputs keeping in view the sensitivity of forth coming important functions.
