For decades, influential clerical staff of GDC Kathua immune to transfers 10/30/2015 12:33:07 AM Akshay Azad ET Report JAMMU, Oct 29: Beyond tall claims of Higher Education Minister to streamline the functioning of the higher education department, clerical staff in various degree colleges has overstayed at their choice postings for decades. The Government Degree College Kathua is no exception, wherein nearly half a dozen employees have been untouched and some of them have evaded any transfer from their joining to retirement. Sources informed Early Times that Ravi Kumar, who was appointed on the post of Carpenter has been working as Clerk for the last more than one decade and was untouched. Lab Assistant in Zoology department, Manmohan Krishan is also beneficiary of transfer industry and has been enjoying stay in Kathua college for the last many years. Krishan is also taking care of Distance Education section, Sub Office of Jammu University. Moreover, Thandu Ram, Lab Assistant in Botany has also been overstaying for the last more than one decade and remained untouched during transfers, due to reasons best known to authorities. Lochan Singh, working as Lab Assistant has also been overstaying in Kathua College for the last many couple of years. The political clout of Lochan Singh could be judged from fact that nearly four years back he was transferred to Government Degree College Basohli, but it was still unknown whether transfer order was modified or not, but Lochan Singh has been staying in GDC Kathua. Bodh Raj, laboratory assistant in Chemistry was also never transferred from the college, sources said. Moreover, Chowkidar Jia Lal has also been enjoying stay in the College for the last many years. Despite holding a very lower post in the College, Jia Lal holds strong links with all Principals as a result of which he allegedly managed to engage his brother and wife in the GDC College on different posts. It seems that the claims of Higher Education Minister Naem Akhter to streamline the functioning of department are restricted to words only but there is not an iota of change, sources said. Principal of GDC Kathua, Banbari Lal said that they send the details of all staff members and their tenure of stay to Higher authorities, twice in a year, adding that transfer of employees was the prerogative of higher ups.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
