Early Times Report KATHUA, Nov 20: Legal Metrology Department acting swiftly on complaints of consumers regarding use of unverified weights and measures conducted intensive checking at Dayalachack. A team of the legal Metrology department, Kathua headed by Assistant Controller, Ajay Verma and Inspectors, Vicky Sharma and Devi Lakhanpuria conducted checking of various traders at Dayalachack, Marheen, Ramkot, Changran, Kathua and adjoining areas. A penalty of Rs 7100 was imposed on erring traders for violation of various provisions of J&K Weights and Measures Enforcement (Amendment) Act 2011. Meanwhile, the department directed all traders to use only verified weights and measures for business transactions and display MRP, PKD, Net Contents, complete address and consumer care number on commodities to be sold in packaged form. The department warned unscrupulous traders' especially sweet sellers, provisional store and bakery shops to desist from using unfair trade practices. LMD Kathua has also installed re-verification and stamping camp of weights and measures and weighing and measuring instruments at Bani. The department appealed traders of Tehsil Bani to get their weights and measures re-verified by the department in the special camp near bus stand Bani within three days. |
