Early Times Report

Srinagar, Nov 20 : Notwithstanding the claims of Government that salaries of SSA teachers are being regularly released, President J&K Teachers Forum Abdul Qoyoom Wani Friday claimed that 40000 teachers were not paid the salaries from last four months. He said that the teachers will hold massive demonstration in all the three regions of the state to protest against the government's anti teacher approach.
While rejecting the claims of the Government that salaries of the SSA, RAMSA teachers have been cleared, Abdul Qayoom Wani told early times over phone that 40000 teachers are without salaries from the past four months. "Teachers are going through tough times given the delay in their salaries. They are subjected to mental torture as their kids are facing humiliation in schools for not clearing their monthly dues," he said, adding that the teachers have always become easy victims of government's incompetence in utilizing the central schemes.
"It is the teacher who suffers on ground. Government is not taking the matter seriously but forcing teaching community to hit streets," he said.
Ridiculing the claims of the Government in this regard, he said, including the SSA and RAMSA Teachers, employees in various other departments have not been even paid the salaries on regular basis. "It is a sheer violation of the government rules. The delay in payment of salaries has been a cause of concern for the low paid Government employees" he added.
He said the Government had diverted the funds meant for the employees' salaries and wrong figures were presented by the officers which resulted in nonpayment of salaries to teachers and other employees for months together.
He said most of the teaches are in grave crisis as they have not received the salaries from July till date and those teachers who are the lone lone source of income to their families are worst sufferers. He said to protest the delay in release of salaries the Forum has decided to hold a massive demonstration in all the three regions, Jammu, Kashmir, Ladkah tomorrow in front of the DC offices. He also said that the protests will be held in front of the offices of Director School Education Jammu as well as Kashmir.
