Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Nov 20: The Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police K Rajendra Kumar held police darbar at Radha Vinod Raju Auditorium of Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur (SKPAU). In the welcome address the training programme and welfare measures taken for the trainees was highlighted by the Director SKPAU. The darbar was attended by 900 trainees undergoing various courses including the Probationer Dy SPs, staff and faculty members of the Academy. IGP Jammu Zone Danesh Rana, Director SKPAU Rajesh Kumar, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range Surinder Gupta and SSP Udhampur Suleman Choudhary were also present. During the darbar, the grievances of the trainees were heard and the assurance of their redressal was given. The Director General in his address firstly congratulated the Police Parivaar for successfully meeting out the challenge of Assembly elections, Parliamentary elections and unprecedented floods in the state. He highlighted about the challenges of the police, as initially in early 90s it was militancy which had cropped, when there were nearly 5000 militants which has now came down to nearly 150-200 militants. First the police have to evolve itself to a fighting force which it successfully did and during the process, the investigative skills were ignored. Now the time has come to hone those skills to meet challenges of crime. Earlier while interacting with Prob. Dy SPs, the DGP advised them to follow the Shaloka of Mahabharta where the Lord Krishna declares that "Whenever there is deterioration in the society, there is Adharma everywhere and when the weak are oppressed, then to establish Dharma, there is incarnation of mine". On the occasion, cheque of Rs 50,000 was presented to the Director SKPAU for organising Bada Khana. |
