Early Times Report Kathua Nov 20, An inter-college seminar on the topic "Inclusive Education: Issues, Concerns and Challenges" was organized in Rajiv Gandhi Memorial College of Education (RGMCE), Kathua to commemorate the birth anniversary of Abul Kalam Azad, the great educationist, scholar, freedom fighter and the first education minister of independent India. Twenty three students from various colleges participated in the competition and threw light of te life and contributions of the great educationist to the education sector in India particularly in post independence period. The seminar started with floral tributes to the great leader and the students of the college made a power-point presentation about the life, vision, mission and achievements of Moulana Abul Kalam Azad. Speakers highlighted the need to provide, educational facilities, access, opportunities for employment, moral and financial support to the persons with disabilities which constitute 3% of the total population. Chief Guest on the occasion Dr Netar Singh congratulated the chairperson, Mrs Anu Dogra and her team for organizing a seminar on such a relevant theme. Dr Singh said there is a dire need to change the mindset and attitude of people towards the rights and needs of people with disabilities who should be given opportunities to be educated and serve with the rest of the society. A panel of Prof Saroop Chander, Tajinder Kour and Dr Anupama Arora adjudged Pratibha Mahajan from Rajiv Gandhi College as first winner while second prize was shared by three contestants Mridal Sharma from Gang Dev College, Jeevan Sharma and Heena from Rajiv Gandhi College while Vivek from Rajiv Gandhi College and Neha Sharma from LBS College shared the third place. |
