Early Times Repot Kathua, Nov 20: St. Xavier's Convent School, Kathua today celebrated its 12th Annual Sports Day here on Friday in which large number of prominent citizens, students their parents and faculty members participated with great fanfare. On their arrival the special guests were escorted with PGT staff, school band and skating children. Speaking on the occasion the chief guest, Rev. Fr. Dominic T Governing body member, Diocese of Jammu Srinagar Education Society, highlighted the importance of hard work and perseverance in life. Exhorting student to work hard and remained devoted, chief guest also shared his experiences how he reached to present status through only -the hard work and dedication. Later he awarded the students with medals and trophies. During the celebrations the contingent of school exhibited their confidence in the March Past and students took an oath administered by the Chief Guest where they pledged to serve their school and nation better. Various sports and cultural events were held as a part of activities of the annual day. Later Guest of Honour, Rev Fr Rijo, Principal, Infant Jesus Convent School, Hiranagar appraised the exemplary talents and sportsmanship depicted by students through different colourful performances and track events. In his welcome address, the Principal Rev Fr Mathew Thomas highlighted the importance of games and sports in students' life. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem. |
