Jammu, Nov 20 : The Law School, University of Jammu, under the aegis of Justice Bodh Raj Sawhny Memorial Trust organized the Inter-University Debate 2015. The topic of the debate was in the opinion of the house "Effective Regulation of Social Media Is necessary". The students from different law institutes across India participated who were Bhai Gurdas College Sangrur Punjab; Amity Law School, Jaipur, Rajasthan; Raffles University Rajasthan; University of Laws, Kurukshetra University; Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila, Vishwavidyalaya Khanpur, Sonepat, Haryana; Dogra College Jammu; KC Law College Jammu, Law Department University of Jammu and The Law School, University of Jammu. Aamir Almansoor, Sr. Prosecuting Officer, Pradeep Dutta, Bureau Chief, Times Now and Professor, Renu Nanda, HOD of Education, University of Jammu constituted the jury .The event was divided into three sessions: inaugural session, debating session and the valedictory session. The inaugural and the debating session was conducted by Dr. Navdeep Kour and welcome address in the inaugural session was presented by Dr. Seema Sharma, Assistant Professor Law School. In the valedictory session, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Director The Law School, welcomed all the dignitaries and the participants. He further expressed gratitude to the Bodh Raj Sawhny Memorial Trust for giving Law School an opportunity to hold this debate every year. Aparna Kuthiala, Trustee Bodh Raj Sawhny Trust was the guest of honour. She in her address presented an overview with regard to the vision and working of Bodh Raj Sawhny Memorial. Prof. Poonam Dhawan , Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu, presented the valedictory address. In her address, she complimented the entire trust for carrying forward the legacy of Justice Bodh Raj Sawhny and harnessing the academic acumen through such platforms. Speaking on the topic of the day, she stressed upon the need of self regulation at user end, while using Social Media. Pradeep Dutta, Sr. Journalist made observatory remarks wherein he gave relevant suggestions to the participants with regard to the content and presentation |
