Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 17 : Tight security has been put in place ahead of day-long visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Katra town of Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir. Modi will inaugurate Super Speciality Hospital at village Kakryal of Katra besides addressing Fifth Convocation of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University and a gathering of "selected" people from different walks of life. According to sources, Modi will address the gathering comprising prominent citizens, media, Panchs, Sarpanchs, Shrine Board employees and others.While the Prime Minister will be arriving at Jammu Technical Airport, the security grid has been enhanced across the region, particularly at Katra.''Security has been tightened across the region while troops have also been deployed along Jammu-Srinagar national highway,'' police sources here said. They said apart from local police, para-military troops, the Army will also be manning the highway, adding, ''The venues in village Kakryal, where the Prime Minister will be visiting, has been put under siege.''Modi is also likely to announce insurance scheme from the Katra, the sources added.Police said security personnel have been deployed at Katra town, SMVD University and Sports Ground in Kakrayal while no ''unwanted'' person is being allowed to move around the venues.''A team of Special Protection Group (SPG) has also arrived and taken over the security of the venues in assistance with the state police and other agencies,'' he asserted. However, Director General (Coordination) S K Mishra while reviewing the security ahead of VVIPs visit, last evening advocated for coordination between intelligence agencies and security forces. Mishra stressed for sanitising and domination of all the routes, areas the Prime Minister is passing through during his visit.He also asked for greater synergy among different agencies and forces being deployed for the security of VVIP.Sources said security had also been enhanced at Katra Railway Station, while men in civvies along with dog squads, will also be maintaining vigil. |
