Temple, mosque burglary cases cracked, accused held | | | Asif Iqbal Naik Kishtwar Apr 17: With the arrest of two persons, police today claimed to have worked out the burglaries that last night took place in two temples, a mosque and two shops in Chingham area of Chatroo near here. The burglaries were commited in Shiva temple, Vaishnodevi temple at Chingham and a mosque at Naryan Chingham. From there, the burglars decamped with cash and valuable items, police sources said. They also broke into the shops of Pamposh Kumar, son of Jai Krishen and Yog Raj, son of Sham Lal, both residents of Chingam, and decamped with valuable goods. They also broke the locks of four adjacent shops, but failed to carry out the burglary, sources informed. A case in this connection was registered at Chatroo police station under sections 457 and 380 of RPC. After the matter came to his notice, SSP Sandeep Kumar Wazir directed DSP (operations) Irshad Ahmad Ahanger to rush to Chingham. During investigation, name of Mangu Gujjar, son of Abdullah Gujjar of Udail, Chatroo, surfaced in the theft. Irshad then deputed Chatroo police station SHO, Inspector Rakesh Roshan to raid his residence. Sources said Mangu's house was raided and during search all the stolen goods were recovered. The cops also arrested his accomplice Jamal Din, son of Noor Din of Gorinal, Chatroo. The SSP said police had solved the burglaries in less than 12 hours of the registration of FIR. It is pertinent to mention here that Chatroo had witnessed a major law and order problem after theft of the idol of 18 Bujja Goddess from Parna temple in 2008. |
