Early Times Report
Rajouri, Apr 17: Family members and relatives of the driver of Bolero vehicle hired by the office of District Panchyat Officer (DPO) and locals held protest demonstration and blocked Rajouri-Jammu road at Jawahar Nagar alleging that they were not informed about the death of the driver who had died three days ago somewhere in Rajasthan.
Family members of the driver identified as Mohd Farooq s/o Mohd Wazir of village Gharad under the jurisdiction of Rajouri police station were alleging that he was killed under a well planned strategy.
Rajouri police was informed by the Rajasthan police that the driver was killed in a road accident and at about 4 pm on Sunday, the body reached at Rajouri police station.
"The incident/ accident took place in Rajasthan possibly on the intervening night of Thursday & Friday. Rajouri police is also waiting for more details/information from its counter parts in Rajasthan" said SHO.
Sources said that District Panchyat Officer (DPO) Mukhtar Shaikh had hired a private vehicle Bolero for official engagements.
Mukhtar Sheikh had left Rajouri on Wednesday along with his family, mother, sister and domestic servant to pay obeisance at the Ajmer Sharief Dargah.
His mother, sister and domestic servant were travelling in the Bolero driven by Mohd Farooq while DPO along with his children & wife was travelling in his personnel car.
As per unconfirmed reports Bolero met with an accident somewhere in Jaipur area in which Mohd Farooq died on the spot while mother and sister of DPO were injured critically. Reliable sources said that after intervention by Ch Zulfikar Ali, both were admitted in the AIMS today.
As the mother & sister of the DPO were critically injured, he was busy in their treatment and might have not attended the telephone calls made by the family members of the driver.
While Mohd Farooq's family members alleged that he (DPO) deliberately was avoiding their phone calls to hide the truth behind his death and delayed the information as well as dispatching of the body to Rajouri.
Ch Hamid, Deputy SP, HQs and Chaman Gorkha, SHO Rajouri pacified the family members and assured them full cooperation and handed over the body to them at police station.
