GREF labourers stage protest, demand pending salaries | | | Early Times Report Kishtwar, Apr 26: General Reserve Engineering Force (GREF) casual labourers staged protest over Dool and Galhar roads here today against non-payment of their salaries on time. According to press release, during the protest, Peoples Democratic Party's State Secretary Youth, Umar Malik reached on both spots and assured the protesters that he would personally visit along with labourers to Officiating Commandent (OC), GREF and would discuss the grievance with the concerned officer. While speaking on the occasion, Malik, said that PDP is committed to work for the labourer classes in Jammu and Kashmir, he said and adding that last coalition government NC-Congress led by Omar Abdullah created mess in maintaining the equal rights and duties of labourers in state,he said. The labourers at Dool Kishtwar slammed the GREF officials for their failure in providing safety equipments including helmets, safety glows, shoes and uniform. They said that the GREF officials also failed to revise labour rates, and added that when any laborer raised the voice against the injustice, he was shown the door. |
