Early Times Report

Rajouri, Apr26: Despite sincere efforts to improve the punctuality of the staff and academic standard in government schools initiated by Chief Education Officer (CEO) Rajouri Ch Altaf Hussain, yet many schools in Rajouri district have still been lagging behind courtesy casual approach of the teachers concerned.
As per sources within department, most of the influential teachers allegedly are on leave due to bogus medical grounds still enjoying attachments to their choicest placements (even in Rajouri town) while many have engaged students for their domestic help in lieu of free tuitions . Similarly some schools don't have main subject teachers on the other hand some schools are having surplus teachers due to attachments, sources added
"Students are not getting Mid Day Meal (MDM) as per roaster and most of the time getting potatoes with rice while in the MDM records fraudulently show that students were provided Cheese (Paneer) once a week, they added. Not only this, the teachers attached have been holding charges of Mid Day Meal which is against the rules and regulations of the department.
"The salaries of the teachers including headmasters were withheld on poor academic standard, poor maintenance of the school buildings during various inspections and dereliction of duties," said Ch Altaf Hussain , CEO. Directions have also been issued to provide MDM as per roaster and on regular basis besides improvement of academic side. To improve the academic standard and teaching methods in the government schools, CEO has initiated 'Teacher's capacity Building Programme Project' .
CEO added that 3400 teachers have been trained at 41 Clusters (Higher Secondary Schools) covering all schools of Rajouri district at elementary level & the training. CEO Rajouri had also visited the cluster training centres to monitor the attendance of trainee and also inter acted with them to assess and response of the teachers.
If recalled Altaf Hussain assumed the charge of CEO Rajouri on 24 th August last year and since then he has took various initiatives for reforming education and teaching practices viz. mobilization of Village Education Committee (VEC) to aware the people about different schemes under SSA/ RMSA, self defense training for girl students and staff members, introduction of Super 50 sections, and etc.
