Early Times Report

Rajouri, Apr 26: From the last few years the mining mafia in this border district Rajouri which is famous for its scenic beauty and pleasant climate is posing serious threat to the ecology.
The district which is also called as the mini Kashmir because of natural lakes, hills and greenery is in the deterioration with every passing year and reason which the Early Times team found is the land of the river and its nearby areas digged by the mining mafia.
On one side this has put into trouble the locals whose agricultural land has been flown in the floods due to this digging while on other side is also imposed threat to the many spices. Many times the locals, social activists and environmentalists have approached the local leadership and administration but no heed in this regard is shown by either of the two.
It seems surprising and also raises question mark on the credibility of the administration that why no action is taken.
Due to this failure of administration the mafia is roaming free and violating the norms. It is to be mentioned here that there are strict guidelines of the Supreme Court that no such land be misused which imposes imbalance to the local climatic condition.
When contacted ADC Rajouri Mumtaz Choudhary he assured that action under law shall be taken against the persons involved.
Departmental teams has already been constituted and whosoever is found doing such acts will not be spared .However ,he also urged upon the social organizations to be attentive on this issue and if they find any such movement in their areas ,inform us and we will take action he, added.
