Jammu, Apr 26 : In order to raise awareness about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which the member Nations adopted on September 25th 2015, Gandhi Global Family partnered with UNIC India to spread the message of these goals in the State of Jammu and Kashmir. Gandhi Global Family shall take the set of 17 SDGs to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure peace, prosperity, justice and strong democratic institutions for all as part of a new sustainable development agenda - 2030. Gandhi Global Family will initiate these massive awareness activities by engaging the students of schools, colleges & Universities of the State, said Padma S.P. Varma, Vice President of GGF. The SDGS that have been based on five core principles - the 5 P's - People, Planet, Partnership, Prosperity and Peace and which set the foundation of new global agenda shall now be launched in J&K by Gandhi Global Family. Initially 17 schools shall be identified in Jammu & Srinagar to launch these 17 SDGs, one goal each in a school with a specific target to be achieved over the next 15 years. Subsequently, the message shall be spread among other educational institutions and to the rural society at large in the State, said Padmashri Varma. |
