Jammu, Apr 26 : SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth) today organized Odissi dance in the multipurpose hall of KC Public School in which Kavita Dwibedi performed. According to press release, SPICMACAY is a voluntary, non-profit movement, founded in 1977 and coordinated by dedicated academicians and students all over India. It seeks to conserve and promote Indian culture among the youth of the country. Dwibedi was accompanied by Dr. Sapna Sangra, SPICMACAY Coordinator of J&K State, Dr. Seema Rohmetra, Coordinator of Jammu region and State volunteers Shahbaz Khan and Anil Sharma. Dwibedi is the daughter and disciple of Odissi maestro Guru Harikrishna Behara and is one of the leading exponents of Odissi classical dance form in contemporary India. Her performance left the students of KC Public School spell-bound. She began with a devotional prayer in praise of Lord Jagganath after which she went on to demonstrate the full range of rasas and bhavas through her immaculate abhinaya. |
