BJP's MLC holds rally in Burhan's Tral

TRAL (Pulwama), Apr 26: Senior BJP and MLC, Sofi Yousuf on Sunday held 'Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday Abhiyan' rally in volatile Tral area of Pulwama district.
Tral, which most of the times hogs headlines for militancy related incidents, is home town of tech savvy Hizb Militant Commander, Burhan Wani.
'Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday Abhiyan' (Village Self Governance Campaign) was recently started by central movement and its primary objective is to generate nation-wide efforts to increase social harmony across villages, strengthen Panchayati Raj, promote rural development, and foster farmers' progress.
According to official sources, Sofi Yousuf, who is BJP's lone legislator from Kashmir valley, reached Jawaharpora Laam, a remote village of violate Tral.
They said that BJP workers had already installed hoardings and set a stage for the visiting leaders in Bus stand of the village. Eyewitness said that around 300 people mostly locals attended the program and listened BJP legislator without any visible fear. Local leader, Fayaz Ahmad Mir, who is constituency president of Tral assembly segment played key role in organizing the event, Sofi Yousuf told ET.
He said that event started by his speech, where he asked villagers to play key role in uplifting the living standards of people by reaching out to people with developmental agenda of state and central government.
"I briefed them in detail about the aim and objective of Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday Abhiyan' kick started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi Shab," he added.
MLC Sofi Yousuf apprised the people about various initiatives of Central & State government taken for the people of state. He criticized the separatists for playing politics on blood of Kashmiri youth. "There children are living luxurious lives and studying in foreign countries and here they mislead the poor boys and compels them to pick up guns and fight for Kashmir" Sofi said, while addressing the gathering.
He released rupees 5.30 lac for different development works in the village as well.
BJP works later took a rally from the bust stand upto Gujjar Basti Laam. They raised slogans in favor of their party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reports said.
Government had made special security arrangements for the BJP event in the village, official sources revealed.
MLC Sofi Yousuf was attacked by militants on several occasions particularly during election times. BJP lost its Lok Shaba candidate Hyder Noorani and block president, when militants attacked BJP rally in Tajiwara Bijbehara on 23rd November in 1999. Sofi, who was party's candidate by Bijbehara by-polls, himself sustained critical injuries in the attack.
