Chief Minister of J&K State Mehbooba Mufti said in a function in Udhampur "Give me peace for five years and will make state a model state in the Country". It is a welcome statement and every one who is a well wisher and lover of J&K, will appreciate the bold statement of our new and young Chief Minister. She also cautioned that there will be some anti-national elements that will make all efforts to destabilise the PDP-BJP alliance by disturbing peace in the state.
The Chef Minister was accompanied by Dy. Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh She also laid emphasis on the development of infrastructure like road network, which will help in improving other sectors like, education, health , power , water and said that all these things are linked with peace.
After all it is a universal truth that peace is a pre-requisite for any development in any where in the world. Here it is pertinent to mention that Mehbooba Mufti Govt. has still a term of five years, which is equal to full term for the other states of our country.
In our case it is 6 years and even after lapse of 1 year of period with Governors' rule and her father's period of 9 months almost entire term is left behind and much can be done and is required to be done.
At the same time we must appreciate her decision to go head with the coalition as decided by his father and act on the agenda of alliance as framed and agreed upon by her father and BJP, though there were many provocations from the vested interests like NC and Congress to sabotage the formation of Govt. and to keep the BJP out of power but we must accept maturity of Mehbooba to go along with the BJP as to respect the verdict of the people of J&K who voted BJP in Jammu and PDP in Kashmir.
She has also appreciated the peace process initiated by India with Pakistan Government and Modi`s visit to Lahore including foreign secretary level talks between the two countries.
The crux of her address was to see that the peace prevails in the state but the million dollar question is who will bring the peace in the state? And who are the peace violators in the state? And if we can find the answers to these two questions, the solution can be found and peace can prevail. As it is the law of nature that every problem has a solution like no lock has been made without a key but if the lock is locked and the key thrown away deliberately then the peace will not return unless the key is found. Then the question remains that it is the key to entire situation, and I think the key is with her and it is the determination and will of the Govt that matters for everlasting peace in the state.
I don't agree with Mehbooba Mufti when she says that the peace in J&K was directly related with the peace between the two countries. If the people of State believe in peace, which I feel that the majority of our population are peace loving, no other person or country can disturb us. When she refers to the peace between India and Pakistan, it naturally refer to Pakistan who is mainly responsible for disturbing the peace in our state for the obvious reasons that the they are jealous of our development. If Pakistan will export terror or violence to our state or our country, unless there are takers they will not succeed and who are these takers and how they are existing on our soil. Please note that the takers do not exist with out the patronage of the politicians and their political parties because these are the same people who are being exploited by the political parties for their vested interests.
These people enjoy the political patronage.
It is theses people who get killed in clashes and the politicians like Er. Rashid exploit these killings otherwise they have no sympathy with the deceased and their families.
Mehbooba Mufti must remember that if we decide to be in peace then nobody on earth can disturb peace, hence needs an introspection to see that are we really interested in peace or just callous about it because many times the violence is instigated by the politicians and their parties to serve their own malicious and nefarious designs.
She must remember that during stone pelting season of 2010 how young boys got killed in clashes with the security forces while pelting stones on them. These leaders instead of guiding the locals from desisting from stone pelting encouraged these locals to go head with the stone pelting and get killed and then they bake bread on the dead bodies.
Mehbooba needs kudos when she advised Pakistan to keep good relations with India and took a jib at Pakistan by saying that the Pakistan has lost three wars with out any result.
It is also appreciable when she said that Islam is a religion of peace. Naturally the responsibility falls on the religious leaders and Ulemas of Islam to participate in establishing peace in the region instead of provoking them to fight on streets.
The protests and clashes between the protesters and security forces after Friday congregational prayers is a routine now in Srinagar city.
This not possible with out the concurrence of the religious leaders otherwise how a person after offering Friday prayers resort to such protests instead of coming serene and calm person.
It seems that these people instead of becoming peaceful after prayers gets provoked and charged to fight the security forces. Recently a video was uploaded on social media showing the people chasing the security vehicle and pelting stones on them. Now it is obvious there will be reaction from the security otherwise they will be liquidated.
Recently in Handwara case it was clearly seen how the local incident in which a local girl was molested by the local boys and the blame was shifted on the army personals to malign their image and to create the hatred towards these security people who are serving under tremendous pressure to serve the local and ensure that they safe. Thanks to the witty and smart girl who ignored the threat of the local who wanted to create disinformation, spoke truth and bailed the Indian army.
The end result was that five precious lives were lost due to deliberate attempt to violate peace. Who will reign these anti-social and anti-national elements that are bent upon to let loose reign of terror and to destabilise peace. Naturally the responsibility lies on the cadre of political parties who have to be extra vigilant to gauge these anti-national elements.
The buck does not stop here only. If any body is found in these act of violence they have to booked and brought to justice so that it will act as a deterrent for the other people. Now the Mehbooba in power is in a different position.
She is going to have the real taste of power and it is the only the wearer who knows where the shoe pinches. Now she can realise the need for a peace for the healthy development of the State.
Lastly it is the wish and will of the Govt. in general and the Mehbooba in particular to ensure peace and if she wants it there is no reason why our state can not have peace despite the proactive attempts by the opposition including National conference who is desperate to get the power for which he has to wait for 5 years and there is no surety.
His father has proved it in 2003 when sharing power with Congress for 3 years haw peace was established and people still remember the dawn of new era at that time.
