Lineman on duty dies of electrocution, family protests | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 28: Protest sparked after a lineman died today of electrocution while being on duty in the Jammu region. According to police, deceased has been identified as Parshotam Kumar, a resident of Phallian Mandal,died of electrocution while repairing a technical snag on electric post in Rajpura area here. They said he was rushed to the hospital but declared as brought dead. "The family members and relatives of the deceased later staged protest by keeping his body on Tawi bridge thus disrupting the traffic," they added. Meanwhile the protestors criticized J&K PDD for not issuing safety and hi-tech gadgets to the linemen for repairing faults, due to which threat is posed to the lives of many. However, shouting slogans, they were demanding compensation. The life came to standstill for hours when traffic was disrupted by the demonstrators. |
