JAMMU, June 27: Police last night arrested a bovine smuggler from Kandi area of Rajouri while he was carrying nine milch animals to the valley. He was apprehended by cops led by Kandi police station SHO, SI Jehangir Ahmad on a tip-off, police sources said. He was identified as Ghulam Ali, son of Rehman Ali of Khadion, Kandi. At the time of his arrest, he was taking nine animals to the valley via Tergain Dhok, the sources added, saying all the animals were rescued. He was booked under section 188 of RPC and 3 of PCA. This year, Rajouri police has so far registered 124 cases of bovine smuggling against 155 persons and rescued 679 bovine animals, besides seizing 91 vehicles. |
