Samba, June 27 : Three accused of highway robbery case escaped from police custody on Sunday night at Ghagwal police station in Samba. According to the sources, the Ghagwal police has arrested Bhag Hussain, Zakir Hussain and Lal Hussain, all resident of Laswara in Bishnah of Jammu, on the charges of committing a highway robbery near Ghagwal in Samba. After recovering stolen items from their possession, the police registered a case under robbery act against them. All the three accused were in police remand from last few days and managed to escape from police lock-up under mysterious circumstances last night. The accused were allegedly involved in several cases of snatching, robbery and attempt to murder and facing criminal charges in various police stations. "The three accused who were recently arrested in connection with the robbery case, managed to escape from police custody last night. A FIR has been registered in this regard and an enquiry has been initiated into the matter. We will take action if any irregularity is found on the part of police personnel," said Joginder Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police, Samba. A man-hunt has been launched to arrest the accused, he said.
