6/28/2016 11:03:02 PM

Early Times Report
Srinagar, Jun 28 Highest number of 50 guests from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) arrived here while no Kashmiri cross over to other side of the Line of Control (LoC) to meet their relatives, separated in 1947 due to partition.
As many as 11 returnees also cross sides at Kaman post, the last Indian military post on this side of the LoC in Uri sector, official sources said today.
They said 50 POK residents, including 18 women and 12 children, arrived at Kaman post after crossing the Amen Setu, peace bridge on foot. This was the highest number of POK guests during 2016. Earlier highest was 33 on April 2. However, there was no Kashmiri returnee as during the past four weeks only one resident of this side crossed to other side on June 20. Meanwhile, no Kashmiri resident crossed to other side.
However, 11 resident of POK returned to their homes after completing stay here with their relatives.
The number of POK guests increases during summer and goes down in winter because of minus temperature here.
Similarly during the winter more Kashmiris are visiting POK but the number drops during summer.
The bus service, introduced on April 7,2005 has helped thousands of families divided in 1947 to meet each other. The service was started for divided families after both India and Pakistan agreed to allow them to travel on " Travel Permits" instead of International passports.
