Gangster-turned-land grabber enjoys SHO's support
6/28/2016 11:56:09 PM
ET Report
Jammu, June 28: A gangster, who allegedly enjoys full support of the SHO of a police station in Samba district, has nowadays been busy in encroaching upon the disputed lands with impunity from law.
The gangster, who is quite notorious in the area, was on the run during the time of another SHO, but after he was transferred and another SHO took over, he all of a sudden became active, according to police sources.
To establish contact with the gangster, the new SHO first of all gathered information about him. He then picked up his two accomplices and put them behind the bars. Worried about them, he approached the SHO to seek their release. This way, they came closer and started meeting each other regularly, sources said.
"The relation between them has now become very thick. The gangster is dealing in all the disputed lands in the areas that fall under the jurisdiction of his SHO friend and has been making a lot of money. The lion's share of the proceeds goes to the SHO while seniors are given expensive gifts," sources alleged.
He was also alleged to be intimidating people in the name of SHO so that no one dared to speak against him and all his unlawful works were accomplished without any opposition from locals.
Sources alleged that the gangster had amassed huge wealth with the help of local politicians, but after the change of government in the state, his influence lessened in the area and he was virtually on the run after an SHO stopped all his unlawful activities. However, after this SHO got transferred and the new SHO took over, he again became active, sources alleged.
"Almost every one in the area knows about the new SHO's relations with the gangster. They often meet inside and outside the police station. When some people protested against the gangster some time back, the SHO had silenced their voice," sources alleged.
