Early Times Report Jammu, June 28: The June 25 Pampore terror attack on the CRPF bus, which resulted in the martyrdom of eight CRPF jawans and injuries to almost two dozen other jawans, has not only brought the CRPF top brass, K Durga Prasad, and the Defence Minister, ManoharParrikar, face to face with each other, but has also made the BJP lawmakers in J&K lose their way The nature of conflict between the CRPF and the Defence Minister could be gauged from the fact that Director General (DG) of the CRPF, Durga Prasad, debunked the claim of the Defence Minister that the "CRPF didn't follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and the result was that the Lashkar terrorists could attack the CRPF bus and cause casualties. And the DG did it openly while talking to reporters in New Delhi. Durga Prasad exposed the Defence Minister by saying that the CRPF in Kashmir, unlike the army, was not well-equipped and there was the need for a fresh look and strengthen the CRPF by providing it bulletproof material. "Our SOPs are being followed, but we need to look at how best we can improve the existing SOPs," Durga Prasad said, adding "after the attack, we started looking at the type of the arrangement the army has". "Army buses have bulletproof material or sheets, which are about three feet high. We are looking at the same arrangement," the assertive DG said. It is a matter of grave concern that our CRFP jawans in the terrorist-infested Kashmir are ill-equipped. There is the need to strengthen the CRPF and other paramilitary forces considering the state of affairs in the Valley and the Pakistani belligerence. As for the J&K BJP lawmakers, less said the better. Suffice to say that they exposed themselves in the assembly by asking the state government to order aerial strikes in Pakistan-occupied-J&K to avenge the loss the nation suffered at Pampore and other places in the state. They knew it that the state government had no power to order such strikes, yet they did it and became objects of contempt and ridicule. It appears they have gone totally confused. It is, however, true that the nation wants the Modi Government to undertake surgical operations POJK, but the problem is that the dispensation in New Delhi is unwilling to take any action against Pakistan. And it the Prime Minister himself who on Monday told ArnabGoswami of the Times Now that his government will continue peace talks with Pakistan. |
