Early Times Report

Jammu, June 28: Aiming to provide better governance at the door steps of people in peripheral districts, previous government had created new administrative units across state but failed to fill the vacant posts of Tehsildars and others staff in these units.
Reliable sources in district administration Doda informed Early Times that Chiralla and Bharat Bhagla two newly created tehsils were without tehsildars, thus confronting locals with innumerable problems.
Contrary to the tall claims of incumbent Government about streamlining the new administrative units, most of units were still lacking proper staff. At least 16 posts including Tehsildar, Naib- Tehsildar (NT) were sanctioned to each administrative unit but astoundingly at present these units are run by NT and a peon.
They further said that in July, 2015 government transferred Tehsildar Bharat Bhagla and the charge was given to Tehsildar Doda. Similarly, Tehsildar Chiralla was transferred in December 2015 and its charge was given to Tehsildar Thatri but after lapse of a year till date, their replacement has not been posted. In absence of Teshildar, both administrative units were rendered defunct.
A local Rahul Sharma of village Bharat said that he visited the Teshil for some work where he found only NT when inquired about the other staff, they replied the post of Teshildar, and others staff were lying vacant and the Patwaris are sitting in old teshil (Doda.
"Newly created administrative unit creates confusion as there is nobody to facilitate issue of vital documents. "When people visit Tehsil, the present officials refer them to old teshil Doda. This drama must not end now", he said.
"We people belong to far flung area of mountainous district Doda and have approached district administration time and again to fill the vacant posts of these newly created administrative units but all in vain", another resident Rafiq Ahmed said.
They all in one voice appealed Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to fill all crucial posts of both administrative units, so that poor people of far flung areas do not suffer more.
