Ishtiyaq Ahmad ET Report srinagar, June 28: The Special Anti Corruption Judge, Srinagar has awarded four year imprisonment to former Passport officer Srinagar, and then Assistant passport officer Srinagar for making criminal conspiracy in the department. Top official of the CBI Srinagar Tuesday informed Early Times that Court of Special Judge, Anti corruption for CBI cases Srinagar convicted Bashir Ahmad Zargar, KAS, former Passport officer Srinagar, and then Asstt. Passport officer Srinagar, in Case No RC 6(A) 2001 U/s 120-B r/w 409,420 RPC under section 5(1) (c) (d) r/w 5 (2) J&K PC act. "The court sentence directed the convicted persons to undergo four year imprisonment for the commission of offence and imposed fine of Rs. 3 Lacs each to the accused persons," the official said. He said that these officials were found guilty by CBI in a case of misuse of issuance of passport forms. "The case was registered against these officials and investigation followed with a challan filed by the CBI Srinagar to the anti corruption court Srinagar," he said. The officials said that in the 1999 to 2001, accused officials entered into a criminal conspiracy, the object of which was to cause wrongful gain to themselves by way of sale of passport application forms and accordingly case No RC 6 (A) 2001 Jammu was registered in the branch on 10.05 2001, against Bashir Ahmad Zargar, KAS, then Passport officer, Srinagar and M.A Turi , then Asstt. Passport Officer , Srinagar , for the commission of offence punishable U/s 120-B r/w 409,420 RPC and section 5(1) (c) (d) r/w 5 (2) J&K PC act and thereby, misappropriated an amount of Rs, 6,63,661/- and after thorough probe, charge sheet was filed in the court of Spl Judge, Anti Corruption Case, Srinagar on 25.10.2002. The official said that after full-fledged trial, the case was argued by Spl.PP.for CBI Ms Aasifa Ali Padroo and finally, on 28.06.2016, the court of special judge, Anti corruption for CBI cases, Srinagar has pronounced the judgment and held guilty both the accused persons, for the commission of offences and awarded punishment for a period of 4 years each along with a fine of R.s 3 lac each to the accused persons. |
