Early Times Report
Reasi, June 28: The overloading, overcharging and other traffic violations are galore are common phenomena in J&K, but in district Reasi they are taking place blatantly, under the very nose of the administration .The route from Bhambla to Pouni in district Reasi is witness to such violations and overloading of the small and big vehicles is routine matter with no administrative check on them.
The area is also prone to frequent fatal accidents, but no measures are taken to check the menace .The traffic woes in Reasi are thus manifold. Not a single day passes when the commuters are not put to all hardships and that too under the very nose of administration that prefers to be mute spectator.
The traffic movement from Pouni to Bhambla and other destinations around is marred with many hiccups, the foremost being the deliberate nonchalance of the traffic police that seems to be the part of unholy nexus of violators.
Though many nakas and check posts are erected at various places to track overloading of buses, yet the menace goes on unabated.
It is alleged by the commuters that the traffic cops turn off their faces when they see the overloaded buses, obviously having taken bribe from them.
It is pertinent to mention here that out of 200 vehicles that ply on different routes, fifty percent of these are without documents and indulge in overloading without any fear.
"Many of these drivers are without the Driving Licenses, but having greased the palms of the traffic police , this system is going on unabated in entire district Reasi" said a commuter.
