Early Times Report Jammu, June 28: The crime branch (CB) of police has registered a case against the person who had introduced himself to the people as DGP's PA and duped them by promising them government jobs. The complaint against the alleged cheat was lodged by one Harsh Sharma, son of Vijay Sharma who lives in a quarter in CD Hospital Complex, Bakshi Nagar here. In his complaint, he stated that he had met one Amarjeet Singh Lakha who told him that his partner Kuldeep Singh Manhas, son of Angrez Singh Manhas of Suryavanshi Vihar, Lower Roop Nagar, here, was getting his sons adjusted in police department out of the discretionary quota of DGP for which he had to pay Rs 4 lakh. Of this amount, Rs 2 lakh had allegedly been paid to one Ashfaq Ahmed Wani, 'PA' to DGP. On this, he asked Kuldeep to fix his meeting with Ashfaq and accordingly, he took him to police line where Ashfaq came out of his office and told the complainant that there were certain vacancies in the discretionary quota of DGP which were not to be advertised. He assured a job in lieu of Rs 2 lakh each. Ashfaq allegedly told him that the proposal was ready and their names would be included and the list would be out within 15 days. It was alleged that the complainant and his friend Omkar Singh of Chasana, Reasi, had paid Rs 2 lakh each to Ashfaq through Kuldeep. He alleged that the accused neither provided them jobs nor returned them their money. Ashfaq was alleged to have told him to take their money back from Kuldeep. The CB probe found that the complaintant had paid the money through cheque No 026629 worth Rs 1.40 lakh on July 30, 2014 and cheque No 026630 worth Rs 0.40 lakh on July 30, 2014. It was also found that Ashfaq, son of retired SI Ghulam Nabi Wani of Tral, Awantipora, in Pulwama district of Kashmir had impersonated as P A to DGP and allured and cheated the complainant and his friend with the connivance of Kuldeep and Amarjeet Singh Lakha of Resham Ghar Colony. All of them were booked by CB under sections 419, 420 and 406 of RPC |
