Jammu, Sept 15: First additional sessions judge, Jammu, M A Chowdhary today rejected the bail application of an alleged heroin smuggler. Mohammad Taj, son of Mohammad Sadeeq of Chak Banola, Mendhar, in Poonch, was caught by Pacca Danga police along with 10 grams of heroin from near the petrol pump at Dogra Hall here on August 24, 2016 He was then arrested and booked under NDPS Act. The judge, after hearing the two sides, observed that cases against drug peddlers indicated that inter-state drug rackets had been targeting school kids also. "The illicit drugs have a high addiction potential and there is a gradual increase in their intake, getting the users dependent on these drugs both physically and psychologically. The compulsive drug seeking and use, on addiction, causes chronic brain disease changing the brain, its structure and how it works. The deadly menace, a major problem for the society, requires to be checked through strengthening the reinforcement," the judge said. With these observations, he rejected the bail application. --(JNF) |
