Switching loyalties, Tara Chand skips courtesy visit to Azad | | | Early Times Report jammu, Sept 15: Even as his close confidants kept waiting throughout the day, the former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand avoided visiting Ghulam Nabi Azad for extending Eid greetings at the latter's official residence in New Delhi. Despite repeated indications that Tara Chand has shifted loyalty towards the incumbent PCC president G A Mir, a few Azad loyalists in the dissident camp were still hopeful that the former could not ditch the person, who was instrumental in his elevation from a simple Congress activist to a Legislator, then Speaker and then to the rank of Deputy Chief Minister. However, their hope dashed to the ground when they kept waiting for arrival of Tara Chand at New Delhi for accompanying them to meet Azad for Eid greetings but the former didn't turn up. According to the sources, like the previous practice, all members of Azad camp had gone to New Delhi for extending greetings to their leader on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha on Tuesday. They included Balwan Singh, Vinod Mishra, Ashok Sharma and Maheshwar Singh, who are considered very close to Tara Chand. Before leaving Jammu, these people were purportedly told by Tara Chand that he would also join them at New Delhi. Since Balwan Singh apparently knew about the latest developments vis-à-vis relations between the two, he went to meet Azad alone while other three kept waiting for Tara Chand till late evening but all in vain, sources informed. The latest incident has made it clear among all the Azad loyalists that Tara Chand is no more in their camp or in good books of their leader, who has made his clear preference for Sham Lal Sharma to lead. |
