PDP-BJP Coalition: Told Mufti there would be trouble in Kashmir': Madhav | | | Early Times Report jammu, Sept 15: Patron of the PDP, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, was told at the time of formation of PDP-BJP coalition in 2015 that there could be trouble in Kashmir for three, four months because the people of Kashmir would not like this tie up of the PDP with the BJP and he should het himself prepared for the anticipated eventuality. This revelation was made by none other than BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav, who was also one of the architects of PDP-BJP coalition, which was termed by the late Mufti as coalition of "north and south poles". "It is known that I (Ram Madhav) was thickly involved in the formation of this (PDP-BJP) alliance. Our major worry was that we may be able to stitch this alliance but would the valley accept it? This used to be the biggest question that used to linger in our minds. After one-and-a-half years, I can now disclose publicly that I used to discuss with Mufti Saheb that once we do this, you should be prepared for a three-month unrest, because people would revolt. People will say you have back-stabbed us, you have ditched us, you will face it in your areas and we will face it in our areas. They will see it as an unexpected kind of arrangement," said Ram Madhav in an interview after Kashmir got gripped by violence in the wake of the lawful killing of Hizb commander Burhan Wani in Kokarnag area of South Kashmir on July 8. Not only this, Ram Madhav also admitted that the alliance between the PDP and the BJP was not natural. "I am not calling it (PDP-BJP) a natural alliance, but it was seen as a natural corollary of the mandate that was available to us," he said. Earlier, BJP MLC and former J&K BJP president Ashok Khajuria had also termed the PDP-BJP alliance "unnatural" and "not in the national interest". Another MLC Ramesh Arora had also expressed almost identical views and had asked the party ministers to come out of the government if they were unable to deliver. And on September 14, the BJP as a party told the ministers not to play "second fiddle" to the PDP and take up the Jammu issue in an aggressive manner. All this and the Thursday resignation of Tariq Hamid Karra from the primary membership of the PDP show that all is not well within the coalition as also within the PDP and the BJP. Anything could happen anytime. |
