| All speaks for Kashmir Jihadis, but not for our forces | | Valley Intifada | | Early Times Report
jammu, Sept 15: Jihadis have been on the Kashmir roads since July 9. Between that day and till date, these violent Jihadis attacked our forces almost one thousand times. Despite such grave provocations, the security forces maintained restrain just to avoid civilian casualties.
A report in one leading journal has said: "If they (members of forces) were ruthless and insensitive, they would not have taken so much injury. The death toll would also have been much higher. They tried their best to maintain restraint". This is a fact.
The members of security forces did react but only when their very life was in danger; they acted only in self-defence. In the process, close to 5000 members of our security forces have suffered injuries, some of them very fatal. At least two members of our forces have lost their precious lives. Besides, many have lost their eyes and limbs.
The number of Jihadis and their supporters who got injured during all these days of the current intifada is also the same and this should help the authorities in New Delhi to determine the nature of the anti-India movement in the Valley. That the number of injured members of security forces and Kashmiri Jihadis is almost equal must make all, including the so-called champions of human rights, to sit up and examine the nature of movement.
It is sad that while all the political parties and human rights activists have been siding with the seditious and violent crowds and alleging violation of human rights there and demanding actions against them, no political party and no human rights champion has really expressed sympathy with our security forces who have been fighting splendidly in the Valley facing all odds, including threat to their life and limb. Just a passing reference and lip service.
This indifferent attitude of the Indian political class towards the security forces doesn't augur well for the future of the country and their own future. Country is safe because our security forces are not leaving any stone unturned to defeat the anti-nationals and political leaders in the state and outside are should also recognize that it is these very members of forces who secure their life 24x7. Had the security forces provided foolproof security cover to the politicians, the situation in the country today would have been completely different.
Can a single political leader in Kashmir moves out of his/her house with security? Obviously, not. The fact is that they own their very existence to the security forces and yet they ignore this vital aspect while seeking to make common cause with the anti-state forces. This attitude has to change. The security forces have to be respected and their pain and sorrow also needed to be shared. |
