SDM suspends BDO, 12 absentees; withholds salaries | | | MS Nazki Early Times Report
Poonch, Sept 15: On the plea of locals Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Mendhar Thakur Sher Singh today ordered suspension of Block Development Officer (BDO) and 12 employees of his office for allegedly prevalent absenteeism in government offices. Following complaints from locals about mass absenteeism, the SDM Thakur Sher Singh directed tehsildar concerned to visit various government offices who found many officers absent including BDO. "The absentees including BDO Tariq Aziz, Sr Assistant Mohd Azam, Junior Asstt Zaid Hussain; Zubair Ahmed, Sukhcahin Lal class IV employees, Wilayat Khan Class IV employee and chowkidar besides Mohd Sharief and Maqbool Hussain all class IV employees. Five constructuls found absent from duty include Rubina Naseem, Zaida Khatoon, Zahor Sadiq, Javed Iqbal and Nasreen Akhtar were suspended, reports added, According to reports, Block Development Officer (BDO) Tariq Aziz was not found available along with his Sr Assistant Mohd Azam who allegedly were working from their houses while remaining absent from duties in an unauthorized manner. Reports added that Sr Assistant working with BDO office already is facing corruption charges and an inquiry initiated by State Vigilance Organization (SVO) is pending against him in regard to their absence for obtaining Panchayat cluster certificate which is to be counter signed by the BDO himself. Taking cognizance of complaints, the SDM directed Tehsildar Mendhar Shahzad Khan to inquire the matter on ground reality. Concerned Tehsildar paid surprise visit to BDO office and found only three employees present while 12 others were reportedly absent. Reports said the Tehsildar submitted report to SDM who put the absentees on suspension and also withhold their salaries. Reports said that the absentees shall be chargesheeted and a stern action will be initiated against them to streamline the system and to put check on reported absenteeism prevailing in government offices, sources further added. While appreciating the SDM's move, District Development Commissioner M H Malik told Early Times that his office too had received several complaints of similar nature and the step initiated by the SDM Mendhar will be lesson to the absentees. |
