Daily Wagers GMCH, SSH stage protest, highlight demands | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 15: Usual work at various hospitals remained affected as Daily Wagers and Need based workers of Government Medical College and its Associated Hospitals today held protest demonstration in favour of their long pending demands A large number of daily wagers (Mech) engaged at Govt Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu, SMGS Hospital, CD Hospital and Super Speciality Hospital (SSH) Jammu today staged massive protest against the state government and authorities while demanding early release of the pending wages. Addressing gathering, trade union leaders stated due to non-release of salaries for last 30 months they are facing financial crisis and their children are facing suspension in schools for non-payment of their school fees and we do not have even bus fare to come to attend to our duties in the hospitals. Speakers said that they have taken loans from their known but feel embarrassed as we can't pay them as our salaries yet had not released for months together. President of association Puneet Sharma said, "They have approached concerned authorities at their respective concerned hospitals but our pleas fell flat. Meanwhile some senior doctors at SSH Jammu on anonymity told that due to strike of daily workers engaged at various units including Operation Theatre the normal services remained affected. They alleged that administration even has failed to restore power of second floor for last 4 to 5 days. |
