KPs remember their martyrs of Parmeshowri agitation

Jammu, Sept 15: A solemn prayer meeting was held today in memory of the martyrs of the KP community who sacrificed their lives for the country.
In a joint meeting of the members of several organization of the Kashmiri Pandit community rich tributes were paid to the martyrs of the community, who sacrificed their lives and fell victims to the anti-national and anti-community forces to safeguard their rights and honour.
They remembered the martyrs of 1967 agitation when a helpless poor KP girl was abducted and forcibly converted to Islam and married off to the abductor resulting in a month long agitation popularly known as Parmeshowri agitation. Seven young K P s lost their lives to the police force and some anti social; elements.
Tributes were also paid to the martyrs of the community who fell victims to the terrorist violence in Kashmir in 1989-90 in which about a thousand k p including women and children were mercilessly killed for no fault of their except being Indians to the core of their hearts and several women raped by Pakistan sponsored terrorists. Members recalled the contribution of these martyrs in the nation building which became the cause for their martyrdom at the hands of terrorists.
People like Tika Lal Taploo, a leading lawyer and political worker Nila Kanth Ganjoo ,retired session judge.who had awarded death sentence to Maqbool Bhat for killing a J & K police official Prem Nath Bhat a leading advocate and social worker, Sarvnand Premi a scholar and author and his son Virender Premi , Dina Nath Muju a saintly scholar and educationist , B K Ganjoo a telecom engineer , Lassa Kaul Director Doordarshan kendra Srinagar , Ashok Qazi a social activist, Mushirul Haq Vice Chancellor Kashmir University, Khera General Manager HMT , Prana Bhat and scores of such prominent and innocent souls.
Martyrs of Nadimarg, Wandahama , Sangrampora and Chhtisinghpora too were remembered on the occasion and prayers offered for peace to these departed souls.
Tributes were also paid to defence personnel and other security forces who have laid down their lives from time to rime to save the nation.
Among others who attended the meeting were members of Kashmiri Hindu Minority Conference, J &K Minorities' Rights Forum, Kashmiri Samaj Jammu, Peoples Watch Group and Management of Voice Of Silence harmony,
