Akhnoor, Sept. 15: Ashes of late Prof. Bal Raj Madhok, the co-founder of Bharitya Jan Sangh and close associate of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mooker Ji, were today immersed in river Chenab amidst chanting of Vedic mantras by his two daughters, Dr. Madhuri Madhok and Dr. Shakti Madhok along with several well wishers. Prof. Madhok, 96, who passed away on May 2, 2016, at AIIMS, New Delhi, was the founder of Jammu Kashmir Praja Parishad and Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). As the head of RSS in Kashmir in 1947, he had played a notable role in the defence of Srinagar at the behest of Maharaja Hari Singh. Glowing tributes were paid to Prof. Madhok at the function, organized by Shri Kuldeep Sharma, Chairman, Social Welfare Board, Jammu. It was attended by Dr. Hari Om from Jammu for India and Dr. Ajay Chrungoo of Panun Kashmir, Shri. Bansi Lal Gupta of Chandi Mata Trust, Shri. Narayan Sharma, District Secretary, BJP, Shri. Bharat Bhushan Gupta, senior BJP member, Akhnoor, Shri. Baldev Raj, BJP City President, Shri. Prashant Lal and Shri. Rajendra Kumar of the BJP and Shri. Mohit Gupta, Bureau Chief of the Nav Jammu Group of Newspapers. Speaking on the occasion, Shri. Bharat Bhushan Gupta, recalled how as a child he had heard of Prof. Madhok's contribution to the national cause. Stressing the relevance of Prof. Madhok's views on Kashmir, Dr. Hari Om said that Jammu and Kashmir State must be reorganized as suggested by the late leader. Dr. Ajay Chrungoo highlighted how Prof. Madhok felt the pain of Kashmiri Hindu migrants as one of them and forcefully advocated the creation of a well-defined homeland for Kashmiri Pandits. His elder daughter, Dr. Madhuri Madhok, said Prof. Madhok was the first to give the slogan of 'India First' and wanted all nationalist forces to polarize for the unity and integrity of the country. |
