VHP concerned over Rajouri tension | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 15: State VHP president Leela Karan Sharma has expressed serious concern over the Rajouri tension, saying it has been fuelled by those who want to disturb Jammu region to support the Kashmir unrest. Talking to media persons here today, he said VHP was concerned over the burning of shops of people in Rajouri town yesterday. The shops were set ablaze when curfew restrictions had already been put in place in the town, he alleged. Sharma said the administration's story that tension erupted after a clash between two groups over the issue of beef was totally wrong. "Actually a tempo traveller was hired by 10 persons. Two more persons boarded it at Panja Chowk. When the passengers complained of foul smell in the vehicle, they said it was meat of camel which had been sacrificed in the house of a naib-tehsildar. After they were asked to put the meat bag on the tempo's roof, there was an altercation between the two sides," he claimed. When the Rajouri police station SHO arrived at the spot, the passengers fled away. The tempo was then seized and taken to police station. In the meanwhile, on the naib-tehsildar's instigation, objectionable slogans were raised by some people, the VHP president alleged. He said the district administration failed to apprehend the situation as a result which shops were burnt by a mob. He asked the administration to book the real culprits and provide compensation to the shopkeepers who had suffered the losses. VHP working president Suresh Chander and Bajrang Dal state convenor Rakesh Sharma were also present in the press conference. |
