JAMMU, Oct 6: A senior forest officer using his connections in state as well as central BJP leadership is likely to get posted as Inspector General of Forest, under Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Government of India.
Sources in forest department told Early Times that the officer presently holding prize posting in forest department is eyeing top post in Central Government, and he might manage central deputation.
"Being close to Forest Minister, the officer is controlling the entire functioning of forest department. Transfers orders in the department are being issued on his recommendations", sources said, and since forest department has been in the light for all bad reasons, he is now trying to escape.
"Being a senior officer he is under fire, after recently exposed fake degree scam in the department. However, he is not fully responsible for the scam, but he too had made several recommendations for DPCs, in which some of fake degree holders have made their fortunes", they added.
The officer has to face heat over Resin auction issue, as despite of three auctions Resin worth several crores is lying dumped in forest depots.
Sources said that being master in convincing ministers, he during NC-Congress government in state had also managed a prize posting. "At that time, being hand in glove with the then Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, he managed a prize posting, but following change of guard, he was removed from that post", sources said, and added that using his tactics, he once again got himself posted on his choice post.
"Presently he enjoys good affiliation with two Cabinet Ministers from same region, who made his central deputation possible. However, other officers who were too eligible for post, are likely to be ignored since they don't have political masters in the present political dispensation in the state as well as centre", they added. |
