Early Times Report

Doda, Oct 13: Despite tall claims of union as well as state government that rural road connectivity is key component of rural development, the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) yet has not been able to complete Hambal to Dedni road stretch in Block Marmat sanctioned since 1994 which stall is far from reality.
Reliable sources Public Works Department (PWD) informed that more than dozen road projects of Hambal to Dedni has been forwarded by state government to union government for approval.
Out of which union government has sanctioned Hambal to Dedni road projects under scheme R&B at an estimated cost of a million rupees but astoundingly the agency yet not completed a single project. Sources further said that though construction work of Dedni road was awarded a year 1994 by PMGSY but not a single foot of any road has been undertaken till today.
Locals alleged that for the last five decades, village Dedni of Marmat Block is suffering due to lack of proper road connectivity while promises and assurances doled by the previous government yet has not been fulfilled and it seems that the project of Hambal-Dedni road will be distant dream.
Interestingly this project has been allotted to different departments/ agencies viz PWD, PMGSY, R&B Department NERGA right from 1994 to 2014 and these all departments only proved extra burden on government exchequer by looting million of rupees for this road.
If recalled here that Dedni road started four times in past, but unfortunately work was abandoned time and again. Locals have anchored hopes for getting road connectivity through their fervent appeal to Governor of State and urged him to personally intervene in this matter so as to make the Hambal to Dedni road a reality.
A local resident Nazi r Ahmed said that people alleged that the successive governments have failed to start the work on the road Hambal to Dedni reasons better known to official at helms of affairs but they feel the present regime claiming 'good governance' should make this road project a dream to come true.
