Zulfkar calls on Puducherry CM, Food Minister 10/13/2016 9:49:17 PM Early Times Report Puducherry , Oct 13: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, J&K Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali called upon Chief Minister of Puducherry Narayana Samy and Food Minister of UT Kanda Swamy and discussed implementation of Electronic Public Distribution (ePDS) system and Direct Beneficiary Transfer (DBT) mechanism in Puducherry. The Minister along with team of officers of J&K and Puducherry met Narayana Samy, Chief Minister of Puducherry and Kanda Swamy, Minister for Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs of Union Territory and discussed successful implementation of ePDS and DBT in the state. Chief Minister of Puducherry appreciated the efforts of J&K Government in streamling public distribution system by adopting modern technology. Narayana Samy also offered all support from Puducherry Government to Jammu & Kashmir in effectively implementation of Electronic Public Distribution system and Direct Beneficiary Transfer system. He praised Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali for adopting visionary approach in bringing accountability and transparency in the system. Meanwhile Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali also held meeting with Kanda Swamy, Minister for Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs of Union Territory and discussed in detail the successful implementation of ePDS and DBT. UT Food Minister briefed Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali about the effective system of DBT. He said that UT of Puducherry started Direct Beneficiary Transfer from July 24, 2015. He briefed that the notification was issued in accordance with Section 12 (2) (h) of National Food Security Act 2013 in which UT of Puducherry entered into unconditional DBT in implementing the NFSA thereby transferring the cash for food subsidy in bank account of beneficiaries under NFSA.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
