DEO calls for extensive campaign to educate voters

Kathua, Oct 13:In view of ensuing Special Summary revision-2017 of electoral rolls, District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner), Kathua Ramesh Kumar today convened a press conference at DC office complex today.
The district election officer informed the media persons that the electoral profile of Kathua district having a total of 646 polling stations out of which 156 falls in Kathua, 152 in Billawar, 142 in Hiranagar, 122 in Basohli and 73 in Bani assembly segments. He said during the period of summary revision Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct door to door field verification of entries identified apart from collecting electors' information on contact details, family members, including non-enrolled and persons going to become eligible on 1st January 2017 which will be entered the details in the NERP portal for further processing.
DEO briefed the media persons that the process of special summary revision is already on and publication of electoral rolls has begun on 30-09-2016. Claims and objections can be filed from 30-09-2016 to 31-10-2016. He said the process of reading of relevant part/section of photo electoral rolls in Gram Sabha/Local Bodies and RWA meeting etc and verification of names has already been completed. Updation of database, merging of photographs, updation of control tables and preparation and printing of supplementary list and electoral rolls will go for final publication on 10-01-2017.
He informed that Special Campaign dates with booth level agents of political parties for receiving claims and objections will be held on 15-10-2016 and 22-10-2016 where BLO's of respective polling stations will remain present at Polling Booth along with electoral rolls. Disposal of claims and objections will be held on15-11-2016.
DEO said all new eligible and left out voters can submit form no 6, for deletion of name from electoral rolls shall file Form no 7 and for correction to their particulars file Form no 8 and in case of shifting of names within constituency file Form no: 8/A.
He appealed media persons to spread the message of this campaign so that motive of error free data can be achieved.
Later DDEO Kathua took a meeting with representatives of political parties and exhorted upon them to cooperate in disseminating the message of error free electoral rolls updation.
