Jammu, Oct 13: First additional sessions judge, Jammu, M A Chowdhary has rejected the pre-arrest bail of a man who is alleged to have cheated people in the name of providing them jobs in police department. Police have booked Roop Lal, son of Chuni Lal of Dinga Amb, Hiranagar, in Kathua district, in a fraud case. After hearing the two sides, the court observed that the applicant is accused of the commission of cheating and forgery which weare punishable with an imprisonment which might extend to life imprisonment. "In my considered opinion, a person accused of a fraud or cheating is not entitled to be protected by grant of bail in anticipation of his arrest and in such cases, custodial interrogation of the accused is not unwarranted. The applicant, accused of cheating and fraud, in the considered opinion of this court, is not entitled to be admitted to bail in anticipation of his arrest," the judge said. With these observations, he rejected the pre-arrest bail of the applicant. (JNF) |
