AICC appeal masses to support Bharat Bandh
9/9/2018 10:10:20 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 9: As part of the nationwide call for Bharat Bandh on September 10, over the unprecedented hike of petrol, diesel, gas and other essential commodities, congress has appealed to the people to support the Bandh, keeping in view the plight of common man in the country.
Addressing a press Conference here today, AICC Secretary co-incharge J&K affairs Shakeel Ahmad Khan (MLA), General Secretary JKPCC Th. Manmohan Singh & DCC President Jammu (U) Vikram Malhotra said that Bharat Bandh call has been given by congress and other like minded parties and organizations to draw attention of Modi Government towards the plight of poor and common man due to unprecedented hike of Petrol, Diesel, Gas and all other essential commodities, of common use.
AICC Secretary said that Modi Government has already collected over 11 Lakh Crores as taxes over petrol, diesel and Gas, which is an open loot of the budget of common people. He gave the comparative figures of price of crude oil in May 2014 during UPA and now during NDA and the rates of petrol, diesel and gas during UPA when rates of crude oil were at peak & now when it is far less.
He said excise duty on petrol since May 2014 was increased by 211.7% & on diesel by 443.06%. The exercise duty has been hiked during BJP Government 12 times, the cost of Gas cylinder (Non-Subsidized) has gone up from Rs 414 to 754 per cylinder and that of subsidized cylinder from Rs. 412 to Rs. 496 during the period.
He said Congress party time and again demanded that Petrol and diesel be brought under GST ambit which would reduce its price but Modi Government and BJP has remained unmoved while the common people continues to suffers. So we have no option but call for Bharat Bandh to move the Modi government.
