Amidst a stepped up demilitarization campaign launched by the Peoples Democratic Party, the Army Chief Gen Deepak Kapoor has once again ruled out any possibility of thinning the presence of troops from any part of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking to the reporters on the sidelines of a flag-in function to honour men of the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry, Gen Kapoor ruled out any possibility of troop reduction. He said that terrorist violence in the state has not come down.

Several militant hideouts were unearthed and huge quantity of arms and explosives were recovered in separate search operations launched by the Army in the region, a defence spokesman said on Friday.
During a search operation at Shershali in Anantnag district, Army busted a hideout and recovered six kgs of explosive, five detonators, four hand grenades, five AK magazines, 300 ammunitions and a radio set, he said.
In Shat Gund area of Kupwara district, they recovered 15 hand grenades, one rifle, four magazines, 220 rounds of ammunition and a radio set.

Twenty seven un-licensed medical shops have been sealed by the Jammu Drugs and Food Control Organisation in the state.
