New Delhi, Dec 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday asked people to be vigilant and take precautions against COVID-19, as he noted that the virus is spreading in many countries.
In his last 'Mann ki Baat' broadcast of the year, PM Modi said many people are on a vacation or will go on one during Christmas and New Year and urged them to follow protocols like wearing masks and washing hands to ensure that their enjoyment is not affected adversely by the virus. Jammu, Dec 25: Taking a lesson from January 1 worst-ever stampede at the Bhawan of the holy shrine, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine (SMVDSB) has taken many steps this year and devised risk management strategies to ensure the safety and security of the pilgrims on the eve of the new year.
Enforcement teams of the SMVDSB will be deployed for four days at the Bhawan from December 30 to January 2 to keep an eye on the number of pilgrims to avoid crowding and regulate the number of devotees.

New Delhi, Dec 25: Increasing the retirement age of Supreme Court and High Court judges could extend the years of service of non-performing judges and might have a cascading effect with government employees raising similar demands, the Department of Justice told a parliamentary panel.
It also said increasing the retirement age of judges would be considered along with measures to ensure transparency and accountability in appointments to the higher judiciary.
In July, Law Minister Kiren Rijiju had informed Parliament that there is no proposal to increase the retirement age of Supreme Court and High Court judges.
