Early Times Report Srinagar, May 18: Even as the Democratic Progressive Azad Party on May 17 asked its leaders and spokespersons not to speak to the media on any “sensitive or controversial issue” without the permission of General Secretary Incharge of Media and Chief Spokesperson, all is not well in the DPAP. As per the circular issued by veteran politician and party chairman, Ghulam Nabi Azad, “no leader, spokesperson or any individual of DPAP shall speak against or disrespect the sentiments of SC/ST or any other caste, region or religion as well as against any social or political organisation.” Ironically even the spokespersons are not allowed to speak. The circular added “that during the past few years political scenario and thinking at national and state levels has totally changed and the mutual respect and regard which existed earlier for the leaders of other political parties has totally disappeared.” Sources said the “media gag” erupted in the wake of a controversy allegedly triggered by a senior spokesperson of the party. Sources said following the controvers...
