| PM, Bush meet briefly | | | |

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today met US President George W Bush on the sidelines of the G-8 Summit in Germany's sea-side resort of Heiligendamm near here.
The two leaders had a brief meeting, officials said.
It was not immediately clear what transpired in the meeting.
The two leaders were expected to touch upon a proposed agreement to operationalise the civil nuclear deal, which has got stuck due to differences on reprocessing issue.
As negotiators of the two sides are looking for a political push at the highest level to break the impasse, the meeting between Singh and Bush was expected to give a signal in this regard.

A compact disc allegedly circulated by international terror outfit Al-Qaeda has surfaced in Jammu and Kashmir and the top police brass today said its veracity was being verified.
The CD was given to a local news agency here along with a statement purportedly issued by so-called chief of the banned outfit in India Abu Abdul Rehman Al-Ansari.
Director General of J-K Police Gopal Sharma said that his department has taken cognizance of the surfacing of the CD and was in the process of verifying its authenticity.
"We have come to know about the CD and are in the process of verifying its authenticity. It will be premature to make a comment at this moment," he said.

Kathua (Jammu) June 8
Police today raided the house of a suspected drug peddler at Sawan Chak Kathua and recovered two Kilogram heroine worth two crore rupees in international market, besides Porno CD's arms and Bhuuki.
The accused was arrested from a basement of the house being used by the accused as hideout, official sources said.
The search of the accused residence was conducted after police secured search warrant from Judicial Magistrate.

An employee Jammu and Kashmir Judiciary among two persons landed up in police custody for their alleged links with banned Hizbul Mujahideen militants group.
Official sources said that the suspects, allegedly working as over ground workers with HM, were arrested from Budgam area of central Kashmir.
Based on specific information 35 Rashtriya Rifles and Jammu Kashmir police launched a search operation in general area Khan Sahib of Budgam district and arrested the accused persons, a defence spokesman told News Agency of Kashmir.
