SRINAGAR, July 9 : Army on Tuesday claimed to have killed five militants after foiling a major infiltration bid on Line of Control (LoC) in Keran Sector in north Kashmir's Kupwara district while as a soldier was killed and two others were injured in another gunfight at Uri in Baramulla district today.
Official sources told Global News Service that soldiers of 4 Kumavo regiment this morning foiled the bid in near Ustad Post in Keran sector. Sources said that soldiers spotted a group of heavily armed militants who were trying to sneak into this side. "Militants opened fire which was retaliated triggering an encounter which continued for some time," they said, adding that five intruders were killed.
Soon after the exchange of fire, additional reinforcement was sent to area and searches are on, sources added.
