| Jammu region sitting on a volcano | | Traces of Al-Qaeda' presence in J&K confirmed | | | B L Kak
NEW DELHI, JULY 22: Communication intercepts have confirmed traces of Al-Qaeda's presence in Jammu and Kashmir. This has prompted the Union Ministry of Home Affairs to issue fresh instructions, calling for joint operations by the J&K police and security and intelligence agencies to liquidate Al-Qaeda modules.
Equally sensational information, now being examined by the Ministries of Defence and Home Affairs, relates to the existence of terror training camps alongside the Pakistani Army regiments across the Line of Control (LoC) and international border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to a et of inputs available with these Ministries, as many as 59 terrorist training... | |

NEW DELHI, JULY 22: First of its kind--indeed, unparalleled in the annals of Indian publishing industry--is the artistic presentation of the cameos about the principal characters--Kashmiri Muslims, Kashmiri Pandits, security forces, militants, politicians, intellectuals, comon people and women.
And one cameo is printed on one page. In all, 180 cameos form the literary bombshell of Arvind Gigoo, a Kashmiri Pandit forced, like vast crowds of his co-religionists, to seek shelter in the Jammu region after his homeland was lashed by politcal turmoil and terrorism in the beginning of 1990. Gigoo's bombshell is in the shape of a book titled 'THE UGLY KASHMIRI--cameos in exile'.

NEW DELHI: The Congress party led by Sonia Gandhi is keen to revive itself in India's key State of Uttar Pradesh (UP) it ruled until 1990. The job is not easy at all. And the question of the Congress returning to power in the State just does not arise.
UP seems to be heading for a fractured mandate at the coming Assembly polls. Indications are by no means uncertain that at least seven serious contenders would contest each of the 403 seats of India's most populous State. Three of the four major political forces-- the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress party-- have already announced their decision to contest the polls on their own.

NEW DELHI, JULY 22: In what is being seen as an act to further exert pressure on Islamabad, New Delhi, in a strong riposte, has countered Pakistan President, Gen. Pervez Musharraf’s latest statement, seeking material evidences from India on whether Pakistan was actually ‘aiding and abetting’ terrorism against India.
Firing the latest in what foreign policy observers here called as the beginning of the Indo-Pak blame game, India stated that there were enough evidences of Pakistan’s involvement in perpetrating acts of terrorism against Indian soil and key evidences have been shared with Islamabad time and again, as part of the Composite Dialogue Process.
